Hosting the KRMD Free Family Country Concert

It Turns Out That You Really Can Go Home!

A funny thing happens after you leave radio. You kind of wonder if people will remember you… or if they’ve already replaced you with a Spotify playlist and somebody who actually gives accurate weather forecasts.

So when I was invited to host the KRMD Free Family Concert over a year after leaving my longtime home at Kiss Country... it honestly meant more to me than I probably let on Saturday night.

And it felt good.

There’s just something about being around country music fans again that feels familiar. The music, the laughter, the people yelling your name from across the crowd while you pretend you still remember how to work a microphone.

I was lucky enough to share the stage with some really great talent, including Big Ant, my former morning show partner Shawn Dion, and the one and only morning man and Curb Nashville recording artist Trini Triggs —  No pressure there at all.

Then you add in artists like Lance Thompson, Shane Pons, Kate Watson, Hailey Wright, Caden Wilson, and Clay Labeff, and it turned into one heck of a night. We’ve got some seriously talented folks around here.

But honestly, my favorite part wasn’t even being on stage.

It was watching families spread out across the crowd, enjoying themselves, kids playing while the music filled the air, friends catching up, and people just relaxing together for a few hours. In a world where everybody seems stressed, angry, busy, or staring at their phones, it was refreshing to see people just being present and enjoying the moment.

That’s a win these days.

Huge thanks to Hurricane Alley and the entire East Bank District for providing a place for community to come together.

Also, shoutout to Bayou Outdoor Supercenter and Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana for helping make it happen, and to everybody who bid on those incredible boots benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Y’all showed up in a big way for a really important cause.

At the end of the night, I drove home tired, grateful, and smiling the whole way.

And honestly?

It just felt really good to be back around my people again. Thank you so much for your hospitality :)

It's hard to believe, but it's been over a year since I was in radio, and one of the greatest feelings has been realizing the relationships, friendships, and trust built over all those years didn’t end when I turned off the mic. If anything, they’ve grown stronger. It means more than I can put into words when groups still reach out and ask me to host their events. Whether it’s a fundraiser or a Mardi Gras bal, there’s something incredibly humbling about being trusted to help create the energy for moments that matter so much to people. Last night, I had the honor of helping to raise money for Evergreen Life Services. These aren’t just events on a calendar. For many organizations, it’s their biggest fundraiser of the year. Months of work, planning, and passion go into one evening, and they’re trusting YOU to help carry the tone, engage the crowd, keep the momentum moving, and make guests feel connected and entertained. That’s a responsibility I never take lightly. And honestly… it feeds my soul. I’ve always loved connecting with people, making them laugh, making them feel welcome, and helping create experiences people remember long after the lights go down. Radio allowed me to do that for years, but getting to continue doing it face-to-face at events across our region has been incredibly rewarding. In a lot of ways, it’s also become the heartbeat of what we’re building with Green Growth Group. At our core, Green Growth Group is about more than business development or marketing. It’s about building community. It’s about helping businesses, nonprofits, and organizations strengthen relationships, tell their stories, bring people together, and create meaningful connections that last. Because at the end of the day, growth happens through people. Through trust. Through relationships. Through showing up for your community consistently and authentically. That’s why every event means something to me. Every fundraiser that helps change lives. Every krewe celebration that keeps traditions alive. It’s all part of building something bigger than ourselves. To every group that has called, texted, tagged, referred, booked, or trusted me over this past year — thank you. You’ve reminded me that sometimes the platform changes, but the purpose doesn’t. And for that, I’m deeply grateful. — Erin “Bristol” Woods
